Training and playing
Gateshead
Girls Rugby is based at Ryton RFC. This is were most training
and home matches take place. The club is located at Ryton on
Tyne, just a few miles west of the Newcastle and Gateshead conurbation.
We cater for two age groups: Under 14 and Under 17. The Under
14 squad is for girls in school years 8 to 9; the Under 17
group for years 10 to 12 and girls of the same age who have left
school. If you are in Year 13, you are ready for senior women's rugby — but feel free to contact us for more help in getting started.
Both Under 14 and Under 17s play their games on a Sunday afternoon.
Kick off times are between 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm depending on
the time of year.
Training is Monday evenings starting at 7.00pm. By special
arrangement we occasionally join Blaydon
Womens Rugby Club for training on a Tuesday evening.
We play tag rugby as well as full contact so you will be introduced
to the game progressively and taught how to play safely.
All coaches are qualified to at least RFU Level 1 and are CRB
checked. We are also fully committed to the RFU and RFUW Child
Protection Policy so parents can be assured that their child
will be learning in a safe and secure environment.
If you are interested in joining us, please start by downloading
our Induction Pack. It
has more information about the club and includes some forms
you can complete and bring along with you. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact us.
